A place to be heard,
and met with care.

I'm Victoria, a qualified, NCPS registered Creative Counsellor based in Newton Abbot, Devon. I currently work from a quiet, private, comfortable art studio with my online clients, and from the Dartmoor Center for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Creative Counselling means I work as a traditional therapist, but can also bring in creative techniques for when words and talking might not quite work, or to enhance the therapeutic process.

As an experienced artist, I have seen first-hand the beneficial aspects of creativity when dealing with my own struggles. My creative practice runs alongside my counselling work, and I regularly undertake extra training to enhance and expand what I can offer.

What to expect

How long is a session, and how often would we meet?

I offer weekly 60 minute sessions. This can be short-term counselling of 6-8 sessions, or longer term psychotherapy.

Longer term psychotherapy tends to offer a bit more depth, whereas short-term counselling is often to deal with one particular issue that is troubling you.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes, with the standard exceptions required by law and my professional code of ethics (for example, if there's a risk of serious harm to you or someone else). I'll talk you through this properly in our first session.

How do you work?

I work from a Person-Centered approach, utilising various therapeutic schools of thought depending on you, on our therapeutic relationship, and on the issues you bring.I trained at the Heartwood Center for Counselling and Psychotherapy, where we learn a Person-Centered approach and include Gestalt and CBT training.

I have undertaken extra training to work safely with Trauma, and in various creative therapeutic techniques. As therapists, we are required to frequently update our learning and qualifications through CPD throughout the year, so I am always adding extra tools and techniques into my therapeutic practice.

What happens in the first session?

After our free 25 minute session, we will take some time to recap what has brought you to counselling, but also go over the admin bits (Ts&Cs).

How many sessions will I need?

This varies a lot from person to person. Some clients find a handful of sessions helpful for a specific issue, others prefer ongoing, longer-term support — we'll keep this under review together.
